National Volunteer Week

If you have volunteers working for you, time to pamper them!

Russel Brand wants kids!

Photo credit: "Ottawa Metro" April 14th 2011

Apparently Russel Brand is ready to have kids... Even if his California Gurl isn't quite ready yet.

Also, he wants to raise his family in England: "I have a fear of hearing my American children speak to me with American accents". I don't blame him... Although, he did marry an American...  How peculiar.

Please, NO MORE STUPID, USELESS REALITY SHOWS!!!... Too late.

A new reality show has emerged: "Mob Wives", a follow-up to "Real Housewives of New Jersey" and "Real Housewives of D.C.".

These shows are the stupidest thing ever created on TV...

Should these TV shows be banned? Why do you think these shows exist? Are people just that bored with their own lives?

Mark Zuckergberg is being sued

Paul Ceglia has suddenly decided that half of Facebook belongs to him... seven/eight years after the fact.

What do you think?

More victims of domestic violence

Photo credit: "Ottawa Metro" April 14th 2011

Lashaun Armstrong, age 10, is the sole survivor of a family of four children that drowned yesterday.

Lashanda Armstrong (25) drove her mini-van (in which where her four children, Lashaun (10), Landon Pierre (5), Lance Pierre (2) and Lainaina (11 months old)) into New York's Hudson River last night after Lashanda was victim of a domestic incident between herself and her husband (and father of the three youngest) Jean Pierre. Lashaun got out through the mini-van's window and ran to get help. Unfortunately, it was too late.

Four lives lost... Obviously, this was a far too drastic move on the mother's behalf, but this just shows that domestic violence is a growing problem in our society that has to be dealt with.

April 20th

An abuse victim came to speak to Algonquin students on April 14th, telling them that if they are in an abusive relationship, that they should get help and get out of the relationship.
The speaker had spent years an abusive relationship for years and now suffers from brain damage because of it.

"Common, show 'em what you're worth!"

Photo credit: "Ottawa Metro" April 14th 2011

After a Nova Scotia boy was bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school in 2007, the Day of Pink Movement was invented.

Above is some of the 250 students from Cedarview Middle School that were dancing to Katy Perry's "Firework" (excellent choice of song, in my opinion), all wearing pink T-Shirts to show their support for bullying victims.

So, for next year, put "Wear pink T-Shirt" in your agenda for April 14th to help the fight to stop bullying.

After all, there was a day to wear purple last year for the four teens and pre-teens who took their own lives because of bullying because they were gay.

Let's make the hatred stop.

"Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting throught the wind
Wanting to start again

Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards
One blow from caving in

Do you ever feel already buried deep
Six feet under scream
But no one seems to hear a thing

Do you know that there's still a chance for you
Cause there's a spark in you

You just gotta ignite the light
And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July

Cause baby you're a firework
Come on show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby you're a firework
Come on let your colors burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
You're gunna leave 'em fallin' down-own-own

You don't have to feel like a waste of space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow

Maybe you're reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road

Like a lightning bolt, your heart will blow
And when it's time, you'll know

You just gotta ignite the light
And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July

Cause baby you're a firework
Come on show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby you're a firework
Come on let your colors burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
You're gonna leave 'em all in awe-awe-awe"

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It's always been inside of you, you, you
And now it's time to let it through

Cause baby you're a firework
Come on show 'em what your worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby you're a firework
Come on slet your colors burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
You're gonna leave 'em all in awe-awe-awe

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon"

A step too far?

Paris has a new law: no veils allowed! This is a kindof follow-up law to the 'no religious clothing items (e.g.: crosses, veils, kepis...) in schools.

Although I can understand them not wearing a veil to places and events where they need to be identified, why this religious oppression? (Hear me out, because as a woman I hate veils, etc.). I don't think it fair that these women get tickets because they wear a veil to the grocery store, whilst others can still wear their religious symbols.

What do you think? Is this too far?

Filmmaking gone way too far

Aspiring filmmaker Mark Twitchell was convicted of first degree murder after he lured a man under false pretences to a garage before killing him in cold blood, cutting up his body and then flushing it down a sewer or something... All this for a publicity [hoax] (yes, according to the article, he filmed all of this).

Rather gruesome and scary stuff... Does this guy not know of the 'Hollywood Shop' where you can get fake bodies, etc? This is going to give a bad rep for his hometown of Edmonton.

What do you think his punishment should be?

The Debate

Photo credit: Michael De Adder, published in "Ottawa Metro" Apr 13th 2011

I have not seen the debate yet, but I think the above image sums it up pretty well.

According to an article published in "Ottawa Metro" Apr 13th 2011, Harper pretty much threatened another election if he doesn't get his majority.

I will be able to tell you my opinion once I see the debate this week-end.

Should Elizabeth May have been part of leaders' debate?

Photo credit: "Ottawa Metro" April 13th 2011

According to Green Party supporters, Elizabeth May would have interested youth and women.

However, over 35,000 tweets were tweeted about the debate during the broadcasting of it last tuesday, so are they correct?

What do you think?

Telethon for Japan?

Jenny McCarthy seems to think Japan needs a telethon, like Haiti.

Considering Japan's wealth compared to Haiti, do you think she's right?
