"Nobody puts Baby in a corner" - "Dirty Dancing" getting a remake...

"The remakes, they just keep on coming and the '80s seem, at the moment, the decade that's positively rife for the plundering as Hollywood continues to seek out the next breakout star to reinvigorate a now-classic movie and launch a career in the process.
The next film getting a modern-day makeover is none other than sacred high school sleepover flick Dirty Dancing starring Jennifer Grey as naive Frances - her nickname is Baby after all - and the suave from-the-wrong-side-of-the-tracks dance teacher Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze) who teaches her new moves on the dancefloor...and in the bedroom.
Kenny Ortega, the man who has choreographed everything from a Winter Olympics opening ceremony to the High School Musical movies, the Michael Jackson doc This Is It and the original 1987 Dirty Dancing, will be taking on the role of director for the Lionsgate remake.
For his part, Ortega is eager to start casting and find "the next breakout triple-threats" to define hip-shaking skills for this generation, like Swayze did over 20 years ago.
Dirty Dancing is of course just the latest quasi-cheesy dance movie getting a slick update, with the upcoming Footloose remake trading in top taps for grinding and John Lithgow's stern reverend for perma-smiling Dennis Quaid, The Swayze/Grey gem never seems too far from public consciousness, however, with one of the movie's classic lifts being used by Ryan Gosling's character in Crazy Stupid Love to seal the deal with the ladies." - Andrea Miller.
