The future of the arts here in Canada

WARNING: DEBATING PIECE, OPINION PIECE

Many in the entertainment and arts industries watching the elections last night probably thought like @Eva Gougeon-Avila: "Oh, boy..." Either that, or "Oh, f*ck. We're screwed". I know I did.

Why? Because now that FOX News North - I mean, Sun TV - is unfortunately up and running, Harper wants to cut over 16 million $ in government funding to CBC/Radio-Canada. He wants to get rid of copyright laws here in Canada. He wants to bring the CRTC back under government control. And that's just the beginning. It's an basically an egregious "F U!" to the arts and entertainment here in Canada. Even CĂ©line Galipeau was looking a little pale while announcing results at Radio-Canada last night.

Who knows, maybe all the art that will exist a few years from now will be propagandic art like Hitler's Germany so as to further brainwash Canadians to believe that Harper is actually good for us.

The future of the arts and entertainment here in Canada us very bleak indeed, leaving many to wonder: "How much longer will I have my job? More importantly, how much longer will I have job opportunities here in Canada?"
